How Much Incomputable Is the Separable Hahn - Banach Theorem

چکیده

We determine the computational complexity of the Hahn-Banach Extension Theorem. To do so, we investigate some basic connections between reverse mathematics and computable analysis. In particular, we use Weak König’s Lemma within the framework of computable analysis to classify incomputable functions of low complexity. By defining the multi-valued function Sep and a natural notion of reducibility for multi-valued functions, we obtain a computational counterpart of the subsystem of second order arithmetic WKL0. We study analogies and differences between WKL0 and the class of Sep-computable multi-valued functions. Extending work of Brattka, we show that a natural multi-valued function associated with the Hahn-Banach Extension Theorem is Sep-complete.

A FUZZY VERSION OF HAHN-BANACH EXTENSION THEOREM

In this paper, a fuzzy version of the analytic form of Hahn-Banachextension theorem is given. As application, the Hahn-Banach theorem for$r$-fuzzy bounded linear functionals on $r$-fuzzy normedlinear spaces is obtained.

Constructive and computable Hahn–Banach theorems for the (second) fundamental theorem of welfare economics

The Hahn–Banach Theorem plays a crucial role in the second fundamental theorem of welfare economics. To date, all mathematical economics and advanced general equilibrium textbooks concentrate on using non-constructive or incomputable versions of this celebrated theorem. In this paper we argue for the introduction of constructive or computable Hahn–Banach theorems in mathematical economics and a...

The Hahn-Banach Property and the Axiom of Choice

We work in the set theory without the axiom of choice: ZF. Though the Hahn-Banach theorem cannot be proved in ZF, we prove that every Gâteauxdifferentiable uniformly convex Banach space E satisfies the following continuous Hahn-Banach property: if p is a continuous sublinear functional on E, if F is a subspace of E, and if f : F → R is a linear functional such that f ≤ p|F , then there exists a...
